Muktabharana Saptami 2019 - September 5, 2019

"Muktaabharana saptami" falls on September 5, 2019 this year. This is a good day to offer prayers to one's kula devataa for the well-being of children in the family, and for couples without children to offer special prayers for progenic bliss. This is also a good day for praying for peace and harmony at home after getting blessings from one's mother-in-law (a good day to resolve issues with one's mother-in-law - if minor ego issues have caused a mental gap between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, both sides must willingly forgive and forget the past pain-inducing events and try to patch up on this auspicious day). May our members invoke the Grace of their Kula Devatas for well-being of their families on this auspicious day. Since this falls on a Thursday this year, it is auspicious to venerate Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi (or Lord Shiva in His Dakshinamoorthi Form), or for raising special prayers to yogis/ evolved Mahaatmaas (including those who have attained Jeeva Samadhi like Sadasiva Brahmendra, Shri Chandrasekara Bharati, Swami Raghavendra, etc.).

Puranic way of observing this vratam has not been elaborated since it has certain conditions that may be impractical in this day and age (like wearing a silver/ gold thread around the right hand after this vratam, and NOT REMOVING IT EVER....Since the effect of removing that thread is said to be very dangerous - but in modern day reality, we ARE sometimes forced to remove ornaments/ items of sentimental use on practical grounds - like during surgeries when they insist on that, or if for security check, we are requested to remove such items - it is a risk we can't afford - especially in the coming days when things could change even further and our objection to remove any item from our body on sentimental grounds may not be heeded at certain places). So, the simpler and safer way would be to just pray to Lord Shiva-Goddess Parvathi, or Lord Dakshinamoorthi, or your respective kula devatas, and just pray for welfare of your family - especially the children born in the family.

The All-Knowing Devatas would understand our limitations and just bless us for the austerities we do when we do it this way.

May our members make best use of this auspicious day - and create protective shield of blessings around their children....they surely need them these days!

Blessed be. Pandit R DAKSHINA MOORTHI
